Voltes V in the Philippines

“Let’s Volt In”

Every Filipino kid in the 90’s knows this phrase from most famous Robot anime in Philippine Television.
Enter Voltes V (Chō Denji Machine Voltes V), aired in the Philippines every Friday by GMA in 1978, it tells the story of five pilots who battle the Bozanian Invaders,  They are based on Camp Big Falcon. The series become so popular that in 1979 the President stopped the broadcast because of it might inflame communism or socialism or spark a coup d’ etat. Leaving the series 5 episodes short

The Series was broadcasted again after 1986 on different TV stations (PTV4 in 1986, ABSCBN in 1986-87, RPN9 in 1988-1990 and IBC 13 in 1989/1994) but they were all reruns of the episodes from the 70’s and a brief tagalog dub, still without the last 5 episodes

In 1998 Ang Dating Doon ( a reccuring segment in the comedy show Bubble Gang) used the themesong of Voltes V on their segment and it promoted the return of  Voltes V on GMA 7

Voltes V made it’s way back to GMA 7 in 1999, once again on fidays nights, In june 1999just before the series ends GMA films compiled the last 5 episodes of the series in a Movie titled: Voltes V-the Liberation, and in the first time in almost 20 years the filipinos were able to see the ending of the Series.

]In 2005 Hero (a cable channel owned by ABSCBN) released their dubbed version and called it Voltes V: Evolution
